“Yeah. I want to make this world safer for us, it’s home. But even that guy who made everyone go crazy and attack each other was trying to help people. Sort of. He was just really super evil about it…”
He shrugs and rubs more at his face. He’s at least a little evil himself.
“I knew what I was doing was dangerous and that some people would probably die. I just thought when the dust settled everyone would understand that they needed the experience. To understand each other.”
RHETORIC - (Sounds bad with out-loud words. Sorry! It was just supposed to work. Is not going to stop the people who come to kill you about it.)
“Our perspective isn’t easy for the others to get. For the humans or the people who think they’re just going home soon or the assholes who act like they’re above all of this…and that we're all just stupid freaks for trying to be happy with the life we've been given. Like, I wanted to show my friends, when they were here how we could’ve been happy.”
[She nods, listening, expression going briefly flatter at the mention of the November fog attack. Gabriel Rhodes was a complex man. She does not condone what he did - it was worse than Harry's, in her opinion, and the altruism percentage was much less. But she's not going to debate it, because honestly, it doesn't matter. He's gone, and she's here to connect with someone who is not.
Someone who thinks of this place like her.]
I get it. I know it's hard for anyone to understand me. I don't mind that they want different things. But it makes me really angry when people act like they're better than me.
[And trying to force people to understand is obviously doomed, but - well. Harry isn't the most stable or logical person. She can see how it happened, how it made sense to him, to try to do this.]
Unfortunately... some people will never accept it. I think... even if they knew. Sometimes people will just never agree. But - a friend here taught me - you don't have to understand to be respectful. Some people will be nice even if they don't get why - we are the way we are.
